INCI: Azelaic acid
Azelaic acid belongs to the chemical class of dicarboxylic acids. It is produced synthetically. Its molecular structure is similar to the fatty acids in our body. This makes it very easy for our skin to absorb. It is obtained from barley, rye or wheat.
Azelaic acid can improve our skin and help with various skin problems. Blemished skin, acne, rosacea and couperose, keratinisation disorders and hyperpigmentation. It is also ideal for treating inflammation, as it has a positive effect on the skin's microbial flora. It has an antibacterial effect and inhibits the so-called Propionibacterium acne, which has a major influence on the development of acne. Azelaic acid can be used in creams, gels or serums. Please note the maximum concentration of 10%. More than 10% increases the irritation potential on the skin. This active ingredient can severely irritate and damage the skin if used incorrectly or in excessive doses.
